Step 2: Complete the FAFSA as early as possible
Applying early can pay off! Some funds are limited and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. In addition, processing times can take 3 to 4 weeks during peak periods.
Here is a list of important information you’ll need to complete the FAFSA:
- Palm Beach State College Federal Code: 001512
- Your Social Security number. It should match the SSN you provided on your admissions application.
- Your parents’ Social Security numbers (if you’re a dependent student).
- Your driver’s license number (if you have one).
- Your Alien Registration number (if you’re an eligible non-citizen).
- Income and income tax information. For the 2025-2026 FAFSA, you will need your 2023 tax information.
- Asset information. Do NOT leave this blank. If not applicable, enter zeroes.

Step 3: Check your application status
- It typically takes 3-5 business days for your FAFSA to be processed by a federal processor.
- Once your FAFSA is processed, the schools you listed will receive an electronic copy.
- Check your financial aid application status through your Workday student portal. Watch the Workday Student video on PBSC’s Financial Aid TV channel to learn more about using Workday to manage your financial aid.
- If you’re a new student, submit all required official transcripts for your admissions application. Your financial aid package cannot be released until this step is completed.
- Your FAFSA may be selected for a process called Verification. You will see Action Items in your Workday portal indicating what is needed to complete the verification process.
Step 4: Review and respond to your award package
You can expect your completed application to be packaged within two weeks during non-peak registration periods. During peak registration (July and August), the average wait time may be 3 to 4 weeks.
Your approved financial aid package will be available in the Workday student portal after all Action Items are completed.
Decide whether you want to reduce or decline your loans. If you decide not to borrow any awarded student loan, please decline it in Workday. Watch the Workday Student video on PBSC’s Financial Aid TV channel to learn more.
Consult with an advisor before registering for courses to ensure they are compatible with your financial aid package. Many forms of financial aid will only cover courses related to your program of study.
Step 5: Maintain your financial aid
- You must submit a new FAFSA each academic year. Financial aid does not renew automatically.
- Your financial aid may be reduced or rescinded if you:
- change the number of credit hours you register for
- takes courses outside your degree program
- never attend class (instructors are required to verify attendance)
- fail to maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
- withdraw from courses or terminate enrollment: see Return to Title IV Policy (R2T4)
Pro Tip: Consult regularly with your PBSC advisors to ensure your classes and financial aid align.
